Madonna fell
in love with Bellydance when
her children were very young & 'impressionable'. They
grew up with their mother being a dedicated bellydancer & were
subjected to relentless Middle Eastern Music which they now recognise
all the time & enjoy at least some of the time! Madonna
performed early in her ‘career’
&
was often accompanied on the drum by her partner Peter Van
Vuuren (& father to their kids, Damon & Nina). Madonna
started teaching
Bellydance in 1996 & has studied many
styles over the years including Egyptian Dance with Denis Enan,
Mo Gedawi, Sarah Hamilton, Maria Sangiorgi and various
other talented & giving dancers. In
1997 Madonna discovered the 'FatChanceBellyDance®' (FCBD®) Live video
and
it inspired her to follow her American Tribal Style® Bellydance (ATS®)
obsession. As Carolena Nericcio, Director & creator of ATS® says " Allow yourself to see the whole picture: women working together in cooperation; a group focussed on presenting the dance as one entity" Madonna has continued to further her ATS® knowledge through workshops with Carolena Nericcio, Megha Gavin & Devi Mamak. She gained her ATS General Skills Certification in 2007 and the ATS® Teacher Training Certification in 2009. DrumDance Bellydance is now a Sister Studio to FatChanceBellyDance®. Madonna has also been a dedicated yoga student since 1991 & is a qualified Pilates matwork instructor. |
